Dear Members, Retirees and Visitors:

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFL-CIO), Local 2505 represents Social Security Administration Field Office employees in the state of Oklahoma and employees who worked in an Oklahoma SSA Field Office when they retired.

Our Local started many years ago in Oklahoma City. Originally, there was a separate Local for each District in the state. Many small locals with few members did not make for an effective Union. Over the years the many Locals merged into one and took the local number (2505) of the first OK Local which was formed in Oklahoma City.

Prior to the first National SSA/AFGE Contract in 1982, every OK District Office Local had its own contract. All of those contracts were superseded by the 1982 contract.

In the mid 90's, AFGE took over the SSA Field Office Locals which were affiliated with NFFE rather than AFGE. In Oklahoma, Local 2505 picked up the Clinton, OK Office at that time.

We believe what we do in the Union to further the interests of our members and SSA employees should be as transparent as possible!

Being as spread out as we are, considering that members and retirees, if they want to attend our quarterly, Saturday general membership meetings they might have to drive up to 4 or 5 hours each way, we understand that it is difficult to feel connected and involved. To remedy that, we have decided on an ambitious agenda of having at least one officer visit all 18 of our offices twice a year, we have put out a quarterly newsletter and we have put up this website.

Feel free to browse and surf and offer criticisms or email us questions!
We hope you find our Local's web site interesting and informative.
