When you are thinking about filing a grievance, do not worry about the contract. We'll do that. You just worry about telling your narrative: who, what, when, where and why you are unhappy. We'll fill in the Articles and Sections of the contract that Management violated. Think about the remedy. Normally, SSA is not too receptive to grievances that ask for money (which is no problem to us; but we don't want you to think SSA is going to be falling all over themselves to settle) or a pound-of-flesh or sack-cloth-and-ashes. That said, we are aware of at least one grievance in the past year which SSA has settled with a public apology at a staff meeting to the employee!!
